This 2 week intensive course will guide students
through the painting process described by 18th century artist
and writer Thomas Bardwell as "The perfect painting method".
Used by a number of painters from the Renaissance on, in the
20th century as traditional painting practice declined, these
methods and secrets were ignored and almost lost.
For the first time ever in western Canada, there is an opportunity
to learn this method first hand with Martinho Correia, instructor
at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence. All steps of the
painting process will be explained, beginning with canvas
preparation, drawing stages
and subsequent painting layers to a final rendering of the
image.
Students will be able to chose from a variety of images ranging
from the the 16th to 19th century. The class will consist
of individual and group critiques, demonstrations and an introductory
lecture.
